Harry was born on November 1, 1922 to Hanord G. and Amanda Hilde, the oldest of six children. Harry is survived by his brother Gisle and brothers-in-law, Marlin Syverson and Kermit Lomsdalen. He is preceded in death by his wife Orpha Hilde, parents, in-laws, Obert and Lena Lomsdalen, brothers Lowell Hilde (Alida), Wallace Hilde (Marion), James Hilde (Leona) and sister, MaryLou Syverson, sister-in-law Alice Hilde, and son-in-law, Lawrence Parker. Survived by his children: Kendall (Debbie), Vickie (John), Kevin (Kathy), Kim, Lisa, and Sandra (Keith). Harry had 19 grandchildren, Sheri (Dave), Jennifer (Corey), Melissa (Thor), Amanda (Ben), Christopher, Andrew (Kim), Adam (Karen), Meghan, Jesse, Ryan (Theresa), Jahnna (Josh), BJ (Lainie), Brandon, Lindsay (Joseph), Brittany (David), Keith (Kristen), Kasey, Krista (Billy), and Kate (Doug) as well as his 24 great-grandchildren.
Harry graduated from Ulen High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Navy as an Armed Guard in the South Pacific until 1946. Upon his return to Ulen, Minnesota after WWII he married Orpha Lomsdalen on June 6, 1948. Harry retired from Honeywell in 1984.
Harry loved playing softball until age 92, vegetable gardening (because you can't eat flowers), traveling to Norway, wintering in Arizona at The Resort for 36 years, and visiting with family and friends. He always had his cribbage board ready to play a game or three.
Harry's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he was treated with great care and dignity and where his care concluded with his Walk of Honor.
A family graveside service will take place in Ulen, Minnesota at a later date. Arrangements are by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom.
