How long have we been waiting for good news? It seems like over a year (I know it hasn’t been but it’s been a LOT of jigsaw puzzles ago since we’ve heard good news. In a week or so they will shift this trial from 45 people to 30,000 which will give a better understanding of the reliability of the vaccine and also give us hope of someday returning to the lives we used to know.
Last week we had an abbreviated version of Karl Oskar Days. Because of the virus, many things have been altered to comply with CDC standards or just plain cancelled.
The Karl Oskar Committee was bound and determined to not let the virus take away all of our fun. They hosted three days of great downtown shopping with some fantastic giveaways as well as food trucks for our enjoyment. Heck, we even had a Karl Oskar Ambassador coronation at Lions Park! The golf course held its annual Karl Oskar Days golf tournament as well.
Basically all we were missing was a street dance and of course fireworks and the grande day parade. What I’m getting at is I wanted to thank Pauline and all of the Karl Oskar Committee and the local business owners for trying so hard to make this year something special. It worked. Plain and simple it worked. Thank you so much!
We recently took a trip with friends down the Apple River in Somerset. It has been easily 25 years since I have been on the river. Not knowing what to expect, I agreed to go.
While we had a blast with our group of friends, some of the oddities we saw that day can not be printed in a community newspaper. There is a different group that hangs out down there, not all, but there are a lot of “different” people. That is as nicely as I can put it. Different.
