A report from kayakers on the Sunrise River July 6, about 8 p.m. resulted when bullets came over their heads. Deputies went to an address off Wilcox Road where the homeowner said friends and family were at the place shooting off rapid fire AK and AR firearms, and maybe it had upset people beyond the tree line, where the shots were directed.
Deputies advised the shooting must be contained to an area with protective bullet backstops in place.
Likewise, having no safety measures in place resulted in another complaint July 11 off 410th Street, Sunrise, about 3 p.m. Handguns and rifles were being discharged and the shooters were told to halt their activity until they could install a backdrop (berm or wall) to keep ammunition from traveling.
July 11 emergency responders went to a gun club at 450th outside of Harris and found a male unresponsive. He was transported by EMS to Wyoming.
July 12
A rainbow design flag was taken from a property in Chisago Lake Township South over about a half hour the owner was gone, in the morning. Value is $120.
The Riverbank Pub & Grill in Sunrise was where a complaint originated about 4 a.m.
Two vehicles had been involved in dangerous activities, while speeding, etc. Two suspects have been identified and search warrants were being executed early this week. A sheriff’s spokesperson said there is no concern the general public would be in danger as the dispute and behavior seems tied to a dispute between the two men.
