In the final game of the 2020 regular season, against the Quamba Cubs at Quamba, Bulldog super utility man Jeremy Knutson played all nine positions in the Bulldogs’ 6-5 win.

Knutson, also known as Mr. Bulldog for his dedication to the team, has shown the ability to play all positions on the field.  When players miss games or when there is a pitching change that involves bringing in a pitcher who is already playing in the field, p[layers get moved around.  And Knutson is almost always one of the players moved, because of his versatility.  Knutson, who is an outfielder for Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, generally plays in the infield for the Bulldogs.  In his game Bulldog game bag, he carries four gloves – outfield, infield, first base and catcher’s – since he could play anywhere in any game for the Bulldogs.

Against Quamba, Knutson started pitching in the first inning.  He allowed three walks but pitched out of his own jam without giving up any runs.  He moved to catcher in the second inning and then moved to a knew position each inning throughout the game.  He started the ninth in right field, his ninth position for the game.  But when there was a pitching change, it made the most sense strategically to move Knutson to third base.  It proved to be a good move – the first batter after the pitching change hit a grounder to Knutson at third, and he fired home to nip the runner.

After the game, team manager Chuck Fitzer presented Knutson with the game ball as his teammates congratulated Knutson for his fun achievement.  Knutson is not one to brag about himself, but he did say “it was a lot of fun.  Now, let’s get ready for the playoffs.”
