Yet, here I sit looking at the calendar it is just a couple of days from August. August? Wha? Where did June and July go? April and May get a pass because we were at home honing our world-class puzzle solving skills, but June and July? This year has been so topsy-turvy life has become a blur. As I look back on the last two months, I try to think of stuff we have done, all I can come up with is a trip down the Apple River. Where did the other weeks and weekends go? Someone is stealing time from me and I want it back. Now.
As the state opens up (yes I know we all have to wear masks)if it all possible, we need to help our local businesses get through this muck that is the pandemic. I’m not telling you take your whole neighborhood out to eat (but if you do, can you pick my neighborhood?) but rather maybe take a day to shop locally or dine locally.
Yes, the day will come when we will bump into each other at the store and actually be able to recognize the face behind the mask. It’s coming folks, I just know it is.
I know there are a lot more people out enjoying the lakes. It’s pretty obvious with the over-crowded landings and waves that rock the boat when you are trying to fish. That’s great. Seriously, it’s wonderful to see our lakes utilized and it’s cheap entertainment. With all of the new found fishermen and women there must be some amazing fish pictures out there of a prize fish you or your family member has caught. We would love to put them in the paper. Simply email the photo and their name and we will get them in the paper. Don’t worry about giving up your honey hole, we can figure that out...just kidding. Email your info to [email protected].
Anyone else completely tired of the whole Olinda Trail construction? Whatever the base or sub-base is they are using on that road it does NOT come off in a car wash. The only way I have found to clean our vehicles is to wash manually with the brush and foam, do not rinse, then enter the full service wash with suds all over. I feel like an idiot driving through the parking lot with suds everywhere.
