Sandra Jean Danielson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 31, 2020 at the age of 76.  Sandy was born May 4, 1944 to Harold Kehn and Ruby Hart Kehn in Harvey, North Dakota.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Arlene Swann and Joy Kingzette.  She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 58 years, Jack, and her four children;  Todd (Monnie McMahon), Ronda, Jill, and Jack (Dawn Burton).  She is also survived by six grandchildren:  Emily Hause (Eli Schwartz), Taylor Danielson, Tessa Danielson, Ashley Anderson, Matthew Gillstrom, and Ruby Danielson; three great grandchildren:  Chloe, Marshall and Colton Kniep; her sisters Pat Dietrich, Jackie (Dale) Zimmerman, Judy Welchlin and Sherry (Gary) Alleman; and by her life-long best friend Bunny Bergstrom.

Sandy grew up in McGrath, Minnesota where she graduated from high school.  Soon after, she married Jack, her high school sweetheart, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA.  She and Jack raised their children in Shafer, MN, where Sandy was a long-time employee of the Hazelden Foundation, until her retirement in 2007.  For nearly 50 years, Jack and Sandy belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom where they taught Sunday school for many years.

Throughout her life, Sandy’s quick wit and playful sense of humor drew others to her.  She loved to share her contagious, tear-filled, belly laughs with family and friends, who will miss her generous and caring spirit.  Jack and Sandy volunteered for Meals on Wheels and opened their home as foster parents for several years, making Sandy a second mother to many, and welcoming guests with open arms and a warm smile.  She harbored a passion for reading, cooking, camping, flower gardening, and a lifelong abiding love for animals of every stripe.
The family wishes to thank special friends Shelli (Burris) Powers, Georgeanne Koons, Laurie Nelson and niece Colleen Swann and family  for their love and support of Sandy, especially these past few weeks.  It meant the world to Sandy.

Pastor Dale Stiles held a bed-side service with immediate family. A gathering to celebrate Sandy’s life will be hosted by her children at a later date.

Memorial preferences to the Cure PSP Foundation and the Michael J. Fox Foundation.  Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com
