Herb was born on December 27, 1928 to Albert and Amy (Gabrielson) Lauer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He joined the Army on November 27, 1950, serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged November 26, 1952. Herb retired from Buckbee-Mears later McGill Jensen MN after 43 years of employment as a lithographer. He also served, attended and was a long time member of the Alliance Church of the Valley, in St. Croix Falls, WI. Herb enjoyed spending time with his family, golf and gardening, often sharing the fruits of his labor. He will be dearly missed by many.
Herb is survived by his wife Jan; children, Nick (Pam), Beth (Jim) Nelson, Amy Lauer, Jo (Rick) Nelson, and Tim (Dar); 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; cousin Jerry (Lucy) Lauer and many nieces and nephews.
Herb is preceded in death by his parents; wife June; sister Pink and brother Clare.

Memorials preferred to Alliance Church of the Valley or the American Heart Association.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Monday, June 22, 2020 at Alliance Church of the Valley, 1259 WI-35, St Croix Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Arrangements are with Grandstrand Funeral Home, Lindstrom, MN.
