February 29 the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in North Branch,  had fire alarm issues during the week, with the false alarm Feb. 29 resulting in fire being dispatched. Keyholder cancelled the aid. Alarm was heard by NB officer about 5:22 p.m. and another false alarm three days before, about 1:40 p.m.

February 29 report of car theft. The car owner said he was giving four people a ride from near Ham Lake to North Branch when he stopped to gas up at Kwik Trip in Stacy and the four drove off with the car.  Incident reported abut 10:25 a.m.

February 28 a traffic stop in Shafer led to an arrest. A trailer being towed by a vehicle had no lights and when the unit was pulled over about 7 p.m. at 302nd and Redwing, it was learned the trailer had been reported as stolen out of Wisconsin. The arresting deputy also reported a cache of suspected meth and pawn receipts were located in the vehicle.  The driver first gave false information when asked to identify himself and it was discovered there was an active warrant.

February 26 a knife-wielding male was taken into custody by four deputies, responding to a domestic assault call about 10:10 p.m. The incident happened at a residence on 10th Street in Rush City. A roommate alerted 9-1-1 and said she heard calls for help, and when authorities arrived the suspect exited.  He was ordered NOT to put his hands in his pockets, which he allegedy did anyway.  A folding knife was recovered as the deputies apprehended the man without incident.
Based on two priors he was booked on felony charges.

Also Feb. 26 there was a report of a dog injured by a trap in Lent Township. The dog owner called about the dog at 10 a.m. and responding deputy learned the property owner had granted permission for his land to be used for trapping.  The DNR is looking into the activity.
