The sheriff’s office was reportedly hanging onto a couple of cell phones this week, found in Taylors Falls over the weekend (March 8). If you were in TF and lost a cell phone, call sheriff administration and describe the make, model and color of your phone to claim.

There were an unusual number of freeway related incidents over last week. A “rolling domestic” a couple of arrests on warrants and  dangerous driving took up law enforcement time in assisting state patrol.

March 8 juveniles were detained early in the morning in connection with house egging.  The sheriff’s patrol deputy spotted the suspected culprits along a rural section of Grand Avenue and North Branch Police followed-up tying the suspects to the incidents and negotiating a resolution. The vandalism will be cleaned up.

March 7 a male was struck while crossing the Highway 95-County Road 30 intersection in North Branch about 6:45 p.m.  He was not seriously hurt and declined transport.  Witnesses said the vehicle was southbound on #30 and turned right to go west onto Highway 95, or main street, and the pedestrian was hit as he used the crosswalk.  The motorist was cited for failing to yield.

North Branch Police made arrests on two warrants at an address on 386th Street about 11 p.m.

March 4 the staff at the ER at Fairview in Wyoming reported a gunshot wound. Authorities interviewed the person and believe it was an accidental wound. The patient came in about 3:40 p.m.

Lakes Area Police officers were sent to the Chisago Lakes High School about 1 p.m., for a report of property damage by a student. Over $500 in vandalism alleged. Suspect was brought to the Regional Juvenile Center per the probation agent.

March 3 a local company reported receiving a bogus email claiming to be an employee wanting to change the direct deposit information on his paycheck.  The company did not make the switch.

 Area SWAT members were dispatched to Pine County to help with a special incident there.  A number of area officers and deputies serve on the unit.

March 2 the North Branch municipal liquor store east reported theft in progress. There were 11 bottles of Crown Royal allegedly taken, a value of a few hundred dollars. Shakopee Police assisted North Branch in locating the individuals identified from surveillance video.

There are still tickets being issued for use of cell phones while driving.  Three drivers were cited by North Branch Police.

The sheriff patrol arrested a man alleged to have assaulted a woman in Rush City. The responding deputy located the suspect in the woods near Rush Riverview Apartments about 7:45 a.m.
