The sheriff’s patrol and local police aided in a high speed pursuit Friday, May 8 on I-35. A 17-year-old male had allegedly fled authorities out of White Bear Lake, northbound in a black Camry, about 4 a.m. The pursuit was picked up by local law enforcement when he headed into Chisago County still on the freeway. Stop sticks were laid near North Branch and the passenger car was halted when the tires ran over the sticks and were punctured.
The suspect was being held in the Regional Juvenile Facility.
May 6 an illegal burn activity was ticketed in Chisago Lake Township on 335th St. about 8:25 p.m. Dry spring conditions have made most burning unwise. A small (3-feet in diameter) monitored recreational fire is about all that’s allowed at this time.
The sheriff contract patrol ticketed a person fishing the St Croix River in Taylors Falls for possessing a bass out of season. Also a person fishing on Rush Lake at Frandsen County Park was ticketed by the county for possessing over limit in crappies.
There was a citation issued on Rush Lake for an unregistered boat.
The covid-19 virus has shutdown Minnesota deputy registrar sites, but the Dept. of Natural Resources has a phone number and on-line process to register watercraft at 1-888-665-4236.
An option is http://licenses.dnr.state.mn.us and register there. Boats under 10 feet and non motorized DO NOT require registration in Minnesota. There is a fee for registering paddleboards, kayaks, canoes etc. that are 10 feet or longer.
May 5 a number of carp were spotted dumped on the roadway near the Big Green Lake public boat access. Deputy reported the fish were not there the day before. They had arrow (bow fishing) damage.
