Kim Larson

Kim M. Larson, 66, beloved Mother, was called to her eternal resting place on May 19, 2020. She entered this world on November 22, 1953 in Oelwein, IA, born to Bernard and Jean (Duffy) Dougherty. Kim graduated from Luverne High School in 1972 and attended Alexandria Technical and Community College.

On June 15, 1973, she married the love of her life, Larry Larson at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Luverne. They began their journey in Texas where their three lovely children were born and later moved to Minnesota planting their roots in Owatonna. Kim worked at several local flower shops designing flowers and eventually began designing on her own for bridal and wedding events. She also had her own cleaning business. Larry died on June 18, 2014, and she moved to Chisago City and later Wyoming, MN to be closer to her family. Kim was very kind and loving to everyone and wanted others to feel good about themselves. She had a strong faith and was the light in others when they needed it. Kim’s family especially her children, Jessica, Mandi and Mathew, with granddaughters, Melana and Ashlynn meant the world to her. She lived to share special moments with Melana and Ashlynn and was their biggest fan by cheering them on in all of their activities. Kim enjoyed music, gardening, puzzles and everything floral. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna.

Kim is survived by her children, Jessica (Chris Scheuermann) Larson of Rochester, Mandi (Tyler Wiltse) Larson of Minnetonka, Mathew (Christine) Larson of Chisago City; granddaughters, Melana and Ashlynn Larson; siblings, Dan Dougherty of Eau Claire, WI, Shawn (Tammie) Dougherty of Red Wing, Shelly (Scott) Golberg of Owatonna, Kelly (Lisa) Dougherty of Sachse, TX, Amy (Jim Baldus) Doughtery of Mound; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Stephen) Huemoller of Brea, CA and Lurene (Steven) Heard of Topeka, KS; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry; parents, Bernard and Jean Dougherty; parents-in-law, Ludvig and Irene Larson.

A visitation will be from 4-7 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Michaelson Funeral Home, Owatonna. Due to COVID-19 we will be following the social distancing rule and accommodating as such. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic.
