Memorial Day was incredible; get your keys - time to send off seniors
So by now I am sure you have heard. Summer is cancelled due to the coronavirus. Okay that was tongue-in-cheek, but sadly we have lost some summer events locally. Karl Oskar Days and Harmony in the Park, the county Fair and MidSummer Days-- are the latest victims. Big time bummer. I was really hoping something with the pandemic would have popped by now (like a vaccine or treatment) but obviously that was a pipe dream.
I can handle the state fair being cancelled - I’m not really into bumping against 500,000 people while trying to get a turkey sandwich. But locally, these celebrations are not only a great time, but they also help pass time. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but if I know say Karl Oskar Days is happening this week and Ki Chi Saga Days are another weekend it makes it easier to plan. It keeps us from having to come up with something to do. Where am I going to get my kettle corn fix now?
We will live of course. I guess it will be a summer of connecting with friends and families on a more intimate level. Man, I just feel so bad for all of my friends and family.
I see that many of you have proudly turned your businesses and homes into Green and Gold for Seniors. The area looks awesome! Every road you take someone has decorated to help honor the kids graduating in front of just a parent or two.
There is another chance to honor those seniors. There is a parade (of vehicles) filled with seniors and their families next Monday. The parade will begin at the high school in Lindstrom after graduation which is expected to end around 5:45 p.m. The parade of vehicles will head up Olinda Trail and turn west onto Highway 8 to Chisago City.
They are hoping people line up (six feet apart) along the route from here to Chisago. The caravan will end on Old Towne Road. These poor kids have had one of the most memorable times of their lives forever removed. Let’s give this class another memorable time in their lives they will never forget.
