Multiple thefts reported in the north end of the county-- mostly tools and related items. Some were the result of forced entry into outbuildings.  A trailer used for tool storage was missing entirely, along with the tools,  from a Lent Twsp. address.  There were two incidents of tool theft from addresses on Acacia Trail, Nessel. One involved customized splicing tools, if you encounter these the sheriff’s office would like to hear from you 257-4100.  

There’s a new Medicare scam by phone....the caller will say there’s a swab test now for detecting cancer (like the covid-19 test).  The caller will ask for your Medicare number to send you the kit.  DO NOT ever give out a Medicare number over the phone.

October 31 a residential burglary at a Harris address. A Winchester long gun and a white space heater are among missing items.

October 30 a house fire reported at an address on Prairie Court Stacy, about 10:40 p.m.  Stacy-Lent Fire sent out.

A protest was monitored outside of a gun shop in Rush City, about 5 p.m. No disturbance.
A vehicle damaged the guardrail on Hwy. 8 near Dew Drop Townhomes, reported about 5:30 p.m. State patrol made an arrest, no report available.

A dangerous dog declaration is pending following an incident where a dog attacked another K9 and the smaller breed victim had to be put down by the vet.  Incident happened in North Meadow neighborhood in Lindstrom about 6:40 p.m.

October 29
Lakes Area sent an officer to assist at a crisis negotiation scene in Red Fox Run in North Branch. Call came in about 8:30 a.m. The subject was provided the mental health assistance needed.

Sheriff deputies came upon a unique scene when called to aid at a deer-vehicle crash.  The deer had been hit by a Ford car northbound on Pleasant Valley Road in Franconia Twsp. The airborne deer flew into the windshield of a Pontiac headed southbound and came out the rear window.  Shafer-Franconia Fire Dept. was dispatched to hose down the roadway, which the report described as strewn with debris and deer parts for 100 yards.  Nobody was hurt and everybody arranged for private rides.  The vehicles were not driveable.

October 26 A complaint about 8 a.m. of violations of Governor’s masking and distancing emergency order at Smitty’s in Chisago City. Lakes Area Police stopped by and were able to make use of this teachable moment.
