Goodbye to a good buddy; make Thanksgiving plans; before 10 p.m.

Goodbye to a good buddy; make Thanksgiving plans; before 10 p.m.

This week we say goodbye to a dear friend.  Foster Mooney passed away late last week.  Never heard of him? If I showed a picture of him, most of you would say “Ohhh that guy!”  Foster is known for an iconic cowboy hat, his thick framed glasses and his neatly trimmed mustache. He ran a local farm north of town and was forever a staple at the Lindstrom Farmer’s Market.  I have known Foster for what seems like forever and was so saddened to hear of his passing.  He was such a great guy, very opinionated but definitely great.  Such a huge part of the community, such a huge hole left. Rest in peace Foster.

The Thanksgiving meal that has been put on at Chisago Lake Luteran Church is still taking place this year.  Due to the wonderfully inconvenient and crippling virus, this year’s meal will be take out only.  The meal will still have all of the wonderful, mouth-watering foods, you just won’t be able to sit with neighbors. It will be a car-side pick-up at the church parking lot.  The thing is they need you to make a reservation so they can schedule pick-ups that will ensure a smooth transition of meal delivery.  To make a reservation please call 651-257-6300.  Thank you and thank you to all the folks who work their tails off on their Thanksgiving to make this a possibility.

Speaking of Chisago Lake Lutheran, there is another chance for us to help those in the community that are a little down on their luck right now.

Saturday, November 21, from noon to 3pm, you are asked to please stop by and donate non-perishable foods such as canned fruits & vegetables, pasta, rice, instant potatoes, canned meat, peanut butter and anything else you may want to donate.  The collection day will take place in the lower parking lot, and there will be staff on hand to take your donations. They do ask that you wear a mask when donating.  Thank you so much for anything you can give!

The Governor today (Tuesday) decided to take action once again towards slowing the spread of the virus. Instead of completely closing the state, he decided to close bars and restaurants at 10 pm.  They will be allowed carry-out after 10 pm.

Look, I get it, this virus is out of control.  It’s awful, no one is denying it. But what does a 10 pm curfew do? Does the virus come out after 10 pm? If so, put us all in our homes at 10 pm... so sick of this virus...
