Upon his return home, he met and married his wife Eleanor. The couple settled in Lindstrom, MN to start their family and adopted three children. The family established a local Coast-to-Coast hardware store and after several years moved to Peru, IN where they established a second Coast-to-Coast store. Eventually the family returned home to Lindstrom where Dormon held a maintenance position at Plastic Products before retiring in 1983.
Dorman was a devoted and caring man who spent much of his time helping his family, church, and community. He was an accomplished carpenter, electrician, and plumber and often said, “I’m a jack of all trades but a master of none.” He donated much of his time to Habitat for Humanity and helped with many projects at his church, Chisago Lake Lutheran.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanor, and children Dean, Donna, and Daniel; grandchildren, Debra, Drew, and Deanna Trippler, Raine and Molly Nyberg and Aiyanna Vondelinde, and Rebecca (Jerrod) Olson; great-grand children Max Troumbly, Ryker Olson, and two others who have yet to join the family.
Dormon was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His faith in Christ and caring nature led him to touch the lives of many and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
