4H Youth Support 'Viking Vittles'
Viking Vittles is a collaborative effort to address food insecurity in our community and is named for the North Branch School district mascot. Our club sponsored a food drive this past spring and we hope to increase our efforts through additional food drives or donor campaigns over the next several months. To support this effort, our club applied for and was awarded a grant through the 4H Helping Hands Food Award made possible by Compeer Financial.
We are excited to announce that Northern Lights 4H Club is currently sponsoring a logo contest for Viking Vittles! Food insecurity is not having consistent and reliable access to enough food for an active and healthy life. During the school year, Viking Vittles runs a food pantry at the middle school and a weekend backpack food program for elementary and early childhood students. Viking Vittles distributed over 6,200 bags of food with over 12,500 meals for students last school year. During the summer, Viking Vittles has included weekly food bag distribution at various local sites.
A logo is a valuable aspect of any organization, company, or product. It provides a representation or reflection of the organization in a defining but simple way. The City of North Branch and North Branch Area Public Schools each have a logo, Look in your cupboards or pay attention as you drive down the road and you’ll notice all sorts of logos. They sometimes make companies recognizable without even using words, like the bulls-eye used by Target. Some logos represent what the company does, like the arrow from the a to the z of Amazon suggestions that they sell everything “from a to z.” Logos provide what is often now called “brand recognition.”
Viking Vittles began their effort during the summer of 2019 but have not yet established a logo.
Your help is needed to build their name and increase their recognition! Submissions and questions can be emailed to [email protected]. The submission deadline is October 30, 2020.
