C'mon snow? Really? We haven't had our Halloween events yet!!

C'mon snow? Really? We haven't had our Halloween events yet!!

As I sit here writing this, I am staring out the window at what appears to be about four inches of fresh snow. So many things go through my mind.  Did I pull the snowblower out from under the deck? Did I remember to winterize the boat? Did we put straw on top of our lift station on our septic?  In one fell swoop my answers were easy...”no” to all.  Not ready for winter, I still have lots of fishing to do.. at least I hope to anyways.  I have plenty of walks in the park to do before getting on the boring-as-all- get out treadmill.  This won’t stick around...right???

The one good thing, if there is one, about the snow is Wild Mountain has opened the doors.  It’s usually around Halloween when they try to open, but with the cold weather and the nature made snow, they have opened their hills.  Make sure to check the website for operating hours and covid limitations.

Chisago City is hosting a socially distancing event that sounds really great. They will be hosting a Halloween themed Drive-In movie night featuring Hocus Pocus. The movie will be held at Ojiketa Regional Park. The movie will begin at 7:30pm. Parking begins at 6pm. In order to be let into the movie you will need to reserve a spot for your vehicle. The parking area only has space enough for 60 vehicles. To reserve your free spot please call the city at 651-257-4162 or see their facebook page. Spots are filling quickly.

The Chisago Lakes Lions Club has sadly had to cancel one of their biggest events of the year.  Their annual Cadillac Dinner has been moved to a virtual raffle due to covid.  There will not be a dinner but they are still selling tickets and still giving away some huge prizes. The event will broadcast October 31 from 4-6pm on Facebook Live.  Everyone who purchases a ticket will win something.  If you win, a Lion will deliver your prize or mail it to you, whichever you choose.  Oh and take it from someone that “never wins anything in his life” you can win this.  My ticket paid for the concrete floor in my garage with my winnings.  To get a ticket, please call 612-501-1504 or contact them on Facebook.

This will be the last weekend to take advantage of the Lindstrom Farmer’s Market. Don’t let the cooler temps and snow fool you, there are still wonderful vegetables, pumpkins and other great things offered at the market.  Let’s make one last push to support our local farmers and wish them a good winter.

Friday you are encouraged to come up to Lindstrom to take part in a Halloween scavenger hunt. In this paper you will find the list for the scavenger hunt. Simply fill it in with your finds and bring it to the chamber office for a bag of goodies.  It runs from 4pm until 6pm.

Beginning today, the Drive Thru Haunted Ojiketa will begin.  Thursdays and Fridays from 7-9pm.  The experience will help deliver the chills and thrills of a typical haunted house experience from the safety of your vehicle. Best of all - it’s free!
