C'mon people-get a grip here; Relay for Life was awe inspiring

A few nights ago we had our first case of political rage.  Ok political rage is nothing new, but we had someone in our community physically attack a family’s property just because of their political affiliation.  The person threw paint all over the family’s vehicle before being chased off the property.

What in the h%&*% is wrong with people these days? Are we losing our flipping minds? This country is built on freedom of choice and freedom of speech. I don’t give a crap if you are Republican, Democratic, Green Party or what, destroying someone’s property over their political views is the most asinine thing you can do.  What a chicken bleep move that is.

This country is on its axis right now and someone doing something like this only fuels the fire.  Apparently there is no getting along with each other anymore.  I used to think that I liked everyone - apparently I am a pariah for  thinking that.

With that said --- I had a chance to take part in an event where everyone likes each other. I attended the Relay for Life event which was held at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church.  Normally held at the outlet mall in North Branch, the event was cancelled due to covid and social distancing problems.

One of the event organizers, Jerry Vitalis decided he would host the event in some shape or form.  So with the help of Pastor Taryn Montgomery and a huge group of volunteers, the show went on as they say.  It was different, but not in a bad way.  Part of me liked it even more to have a event around the church in such a beautiful setting.

Everyone I spoke with was awestruck on how beautiful it looked and how moving it was.  Thanks to the committee and Jerry for putting your foot down and not letting such a meaningful event be cancelled.  It was awesome.

If you had a loved one that had a luminary in the Relay for Life event and couldn’t make it on Wednesday evening, we took a photo of every luminary we could and posted it on our Facebook page. Feel free to use however you like and share with family and friends.

Since we did not get any Covid info from the County this week, I thought I would pass along the numbers as of Tuesday evening.  We as a county have had 319 confirmed cases. Still only one death and thankfully zero cases in congregate care facilities.  The state has recorded 76,355 positive cases to date.

If you are in need of a test , you are urged to contact Fairview Wyoming at 1-855-324-7843 to make an appointment.  There are testing sites in Cambridge, Pine city and St. Croix Falls as well.
