What a difference a weekend makes!  Just four days ago, we were in such a drought and our world had turned brown.  While we still remain in a drought, the nearly four inches of rain we had sure quenched our thirsts (or should I say our lawn’s and our lake’s).   So all of this rain must have ruined Stacy Daze right? Nope - in fact, people were so happy with the rain, they came out in droves to watch the parade Saturday.  The parade was great and easily had the most candy thrown that I have ever seen.  

Thanks so much to the Lions and all of the volunteers that put on Stacy Daze! Everyone had a blast.

This weekend is another fan favorite.  the Almelund Threshing Show kicks off a weekend full of fun and nostalgia.  The show runs Friday thru Sunday at the Threshing Grounds along Highway 95 in Almelund.  The Almelund Threshing Show is Minnesota’s premier outdoor event for classic tractors and old-tyme farming fans.  Vintage equipment is not just on display but actually in use.

There is a children’s playground with a farm animal petting area as well.

Friday there is a tractor pull that is everyone’s favorite followed up with a dance in the entertainment building featuring Darlene and the Boys.  

Saturday has a kids pedal tractor pull as well as a day time tractor pull at 2 pm with another night of dancing at the entertainment building  featuring Jonah & the Whales.  

Sunday there is a polka church service, another tractor pull and a tractor parade around the grounds, which takes place at 1 pm and meanders all around.  It is super cool to see all of these great old tractors still in working order.  Sunday the drawing for the quilt raffle and the tractor raffle will take place at 4pm.  The event wraps up with the band Neighberz playing in the entertainment building.

 Next Wednesday there is something near and dear to my heart taking place.  I am referring to the Chisago County Relay for Life event taking place on August 18 at 6 pm.  This event has moved around the county over the years but has found a great home at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City.

It’s our chance to honor those family members or friends who have survive or succumbed to cancer.  It is impossible to find someone whose life hasn’t been altered by cancer.  Someday - hopefully soon we will hold a “We defeated cancer” party, but until then the Relay is our best  gathering place to honor and raise money to help the fight against cancer. I would highly urge you to come and see - it will move you - I guarantee it.
