You could see how much work the Ki Chi Saga Committee of Doris and all of her awesome workers put in to make the celebration unlike any other. Thank you to all who took part in the event and thanks to everyone who participated in the parade on Sunday. What a way to cap off a great weekend!
Make sure to mark your calendars for September 4. That is the date when St. Bridget of Sweden church will hold its annual Block Party. If you remember last year, the event was cancelled due to covid and had to be transformed into a virtual event. Knock on wood, hopefully this year’s will come off without a hitch. The event runs Saturday from 6pm to 11pm. The headliner for this year’s block party is “A Hard Day’s Night” a Beatles tribute band. The band will go on at 7pm. The event has everyone’s favorite turkey dinner. There is a $5,000 cash raffle - yes $5,000. Did I mention admission to the Block Party is free - yes free.
The other day, I got a text message from a friend to take a look at one of the hundreds of Facebook community connects sites.
This particular one had a “poster” who was questioning some of their neighbors over a dispute. The person decided to make it public and voice their opinion. Then just like a wildfire, it took off with 133 comments; about 100 of them disparaging the poster later, I had to give up. People were attacking the poster for stuff not even mentioned, other people with “like” thoughts and of course it turned political. Why wouldn’t it? Everyday that goes by, the pitchfork nation seems to grow and grow.
I have researched this for years and consider myself pretty knowledgeable for what I am going to say. There is a whole world out there that doesn’t involve our phones, social media or negativity. Yep, let me double check, yep it’s out there. Give it a try, you may just find a whole new awesome world out there.
