The State Patrol identified the driver of a Nissan Versa involved in a crash with a Ford F250, as Luis Edgardo Cruz Martinez, 33. He was transported to Hennepin Health Care where his condition is unknown currently.
Martinez, in the Versa, according to the preliminary accident report, was northbound in the middle lane, in the Columbus area. The F250 driven by Andrew Saltz, 58, Forest Lake, was in the right lane. The Versa went into the left lane, but overcorrected the patrol reported, hitting the truck in the right lane and sending them both into the ditch. Saltz was not transported.

Sunday January 31 the SWAT unit for the county was sent out on a domestic violence incident, at an apartment complex in North Branch. The police were called about 9 a.m. on a report of a male-female assault with a knife. The suspect went into stand-off mode and the special weapons and tactical officers came to the scene. The suspect was apprehended eventually and the Birch Street apartments property was cleared by 1 p.m.
January 29 a fire was reported in an attic on River Street, Taylors Falls, about 5 a.m. Responding deputy could not ascertain the location or extent of possible fire and Taylors Falls Fire tookover, and no injury reported.
January 27 a Ford Focus went off Hwy. 95 from the westbound lane, near the hill overlook, and was spotted in a ditch about 10:30 a.m. State Patrol arrived to transport a highly intoxicated male to Fairview in Wyoming.

The moral of this next incident is don’t call police to unlock your running car when you are testing at a .34 blood alcohol content. A party requested lockout assistance from 9-1-1 about 10:40 p.m. for a locked car parked and running on West Street in Taylors Falls. The officer responding actually found the driver (who he called on return mobile number) at an address on Basil Street. Exhibiting signs of intoxication, the caller was field tested and brought in on suspicion of drunk driving. The car, presumably unlocked at some point, was towed.
January 26 The Kwik Trip in Rush City reported a car on fire on the lot, Rush City Fire Dept. handled Incident was called in at 8 p.m.
