Chisago County has received funds from the State of Minnesota for providing small businesses and nonprofits financial relief due to the hardship of the pandemic. The Chisago County Board of Commissioners determined funds would be made available in the form of grants to assist the businesses and nonprofits that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is a new program and has $1.09 million to distribute to businesses in Chisago County. The plan is to get the money out to those who need it quickly and efficiently.  Businesses that were forced to close down due to Governor Walz, have been targeted and are eligible for $10,000, while all other businesses are eligible for $5,000. Please visit Chisago County’s website www.chisagocounty.org to begin the process.

You know me, I hate this stupid pandemic. I hate how it hurts families, businesses, basically I hate everything about it. Can’t stand those worn-out terms; and now it seems I have found another item that drives me mad.  I already said I can’t figure out why people wear masks when by themselves in their own vehicles, but now I find myself agitated with the whole chin strap deal.  You know, the people that permanently have a mask pulled down under their chin.  It reminds me of something they used to sell in the 70’s for tightening your skin under your chin.  They sold it hand in hand with the fat belt that was hooked to an electric machine that literarily shook your fat off your body.  Man that was a trip down a wormhole... anyways this pandemic can’t get over quickly enough. Pretty soon my list of “can’t stands” will be longer than my “I love that” list.

On a completely different thought—we still need one last coloring winner to come forward. We have called and left messages for Autumn who won the age 6 category of the coloring contest. Please call us at 651-257-5115 or stop in for your prize and get your picture taken.

As you read this, you probably know by now that I was the lucky powerball winner.  As you read this I am most likely on a plane heading to my new place in the Turks and Caicos. It has been a pleasure to run the paper for the last 17 years.  Next week, I will officially tell off all the people I have bitten my tongue over the years...wait my phone is ringing...what..wrong numbers??
Ummm never mind, see you next week I guess....

Don’t forget to buy your raffle ticket for the brand new Polaris snowmobile the Chamber is raffling off with the Wild River Snowmobile Club and the Kids Pro Am.  Tickets are $10 and after the drawing on February 13 at 4:15 pm you could be riding away on your new snowmobile!
