Nelda was born on March 22, 1934 to parents Emanuel and Mabel (Struck) Ullrich in Jackson, MN. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1951, then from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter in 1953. She then accepted a job with General Mills in Minneapolis in their legal department. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband Marlyn and they were married on June 5, 1955 at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson, MN.
Marlyn and Nelda took over the family dairy farm north of Lindstrom where they raised their family. Nelda helped on the farm and was very active at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, where she enjoyed sharing her passion for music. She played piano, organ, flute, and violin at church and other community events. She especially enjoyed playing in the Masquers Theater orchestras. In 1992 Nelda and Marlyn moved to Lindstrom when their son Alan and his wife Susan took over the reins of the dairy farm. They enjoyed retirement, taking many bus tours, having dinners out with friends, and spending time with grandchildren. Marlyn passed away in 2015 after 60 years of marriage to Nelda.
Nelda is survived by her sons; Kevin of Plymouth, MN, Loren (Lisa) of Centerville, MN, and Alan (Susan) of Lindstrom MN; four grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, Timothy, and Joseph; one great grandchild, Aria and sister in law Jann Abrahamson. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother and sister in law, Ronald and Violet Abrahamson.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Any memorials may be given to Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, MN. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh,
