The Chisago Lakes summer free food distribution is funded by the federal lunch program and this week during the Monday distribution, there were over 400 boxes of food items handed out. Anybody can come by Lakeside Elementary School, on Karmel Avenue in Chisago City, Monday mornings, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Staff will help you to pick-up a box of food good for a week’s worth of breakfast and lunch. (The program is closed the week of Monday July 5) These Monday distributions go until August 16. This program is meant for providing food security for all youth age 18 and younger. The boxes contain cereal, milk, juice, and an assortment of lunch items ranging from chicken nuggets to mini corn dogs to small pizzas and fruits and veggies. Pictured are the Chisago Lakes Food Service staff who packed the boxes in the cafeteria area of the new Lakeside School. The public can collect the boxes inside the entry door connecting at the bus-pickup and drop-off area.
