As you will have seen in this Press and the last Search Shopper, we are just a short time until the grand-daddy of summer celebrations Karl Oskar Days. You will find tons of advertising for all of the events taking place and this weekend’s Search will have a full spread of everything taking place. In the meantime, if you ever took part in the Karl Oskar Snuff Box hunt, you know how much fun it can be. Karl Oskar has lost his trusty snuff box and he needs your help finding it. It is somewhere within Lindstrom City limits AND on public property. Be the lucky finder of the snuff box and take home some serious cash. Clues get posted at noon on the Wednesday of Karl Oskar Days and posted here at the Press, Wally Carlson’s BP, city hall and the Lindstrom Antique Mall. If you are the lucky finder please call or text a photo of the snuff box to the number located inside the snuff box. Over the years people have asked us to post a picture of the snuff box - sorry that’s part of the fun wondering if you have found it or not. Good luck.
There are a few things to plan now for Karl Oskar Days. It’s time to form your teams for a pickelball tournament, the annual golf tournament, the Herb Jangor 3 on 3 basketball tournament, and of course the Lindstrom Loppet. So much to do....
This 4th of July finding fireworks is a bit harder than usual. Forest Lake is still holding their show but after that you have to scramble a bit.
Marine on St. Croix which many people from our area visit for fireworks has cancelled theirs, as well as Stillwater’s fireworks over the water. Fireworks, much like a lot of things these days are hard to come by. So hard it has forced some communities to cancel. Locally North Branch and Cambridge have July Fourth fireworks. Or if you are like us, just park by a local lake and enjoy the show(s).
If you live on the lakes or have a boat, you are invited to take part in the annual Chisago/Lindstrom boat parade. The boat parade will take off from Beach Park in Lindstrom at 1:30 pm and will meander around the lakes to Paradise Park. There will be prizes for best decorated boats. If you are unsure if you are in the right place, look for the pontoon with the CLLA banners and flags flying.
The Lindstrom Farmers Market officially opens July 7 and runs Saturdays and Wednesdays through October. Can’t wait.
