This week North Branch invites everyone to come enjoy their Midsummer Days celebration.  The celebration begins today (Wednesday) and runs through the parade Sunday.  The weather is supposed to be perfect, so why not come out and have some fun locally?

Thursday, you can enjoy a fun family event with bingo under the big tent.  Bingo will run all day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will have a $500 jackpot in each two hour session.  There are some great prizes for the kids, so bring them along!

Friday is bingo again from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  There is a purse bingo with Coach purses as prizes given away from 5:45 to 8 p.m.  Thursday caps off with a dance featuring “Off the Record.”  The dance will run from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Saturday is filled with stuff to do, like a golf tournament, a kiddie olympics held at the athletic field across the street from the public skating rink on Grand Avenue. Preschool ages through 12 years will compete in various fun skills with lots of prizes to be handed out.

The kiddie parade starts at the North Branch City Hall at noon,  with registration beginning at 11 am.  Entrants are encouraged to wear red white and blue-themed costumes and accessories.

Under the big tent, from 11 a.m., to 1 p.m. the North Branch Lionesses will host a free community lunch.   There is a water fight in the street sponsored by the North Branch Fire Department along Elm Street - perfect for a hot summer day. The water fight begins at 1 pm.

Another street dance on Saturday (this has a cover charge) will feature “The Farmer’s Daughters” starting at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday the celebration wraps up with the first local parade of the summer.  The parade will begin at 2 p.m. and runs along main street.

Whew... my fingers hurt typing all of that.

I have been noticing there are still election/campaign signs dotting the roadsides in our area.  I have seen plenty of Biden and plenty of Trump signs.  Is the election still going and I missed something? I believe the law states ten days after an election signs must be removed.  What are we at, 120 days now?  I may bring out my 1992 John Hagelin for president signs again.  Don’t remember him? Google him - he was so close.  C’mon let’s take them down.  All parties, even the natural  law party.

Congrats to the classes of 2021. Trio Wolf Creek, North Branch and Chisago Lakes all held graduation ceremonies recently.  What a testament to these kids for having to maneuver through their senior year dealing with a pandemic.  To be able to keep focused and still try to be a kid when the world seemed to be falling apart speaks volumes of our future leaders.
You will do great things!
