Where is my vaccination? It's here soon enough; it's Foodshare Month

It seems like good news is on the horizon.  First off, the news today(Tuesday) from the Governor’s office is the state is moving towards the next wave of people eligible to get vaccines.

Beginning on March 10, people age 45 and older with underlying medical conditions, people age 50 and older living in multi generational housing can get a shot. Essential frontline workers in this category have been expanded to include agricultural, child care workers, corrections, food production, food retail, judicial system workers, manufacturing, public health workers, public transit and postal workers.  I have to admit, some of those like postal workers and public health workers I thought were in the first group, but apparently not.

The fact that the groups I listed are eligible isn’t the news, the news is that it has happened considerably faster than what we’ve been told.  All the more reason for those of you hoping to get vaccinated to sign up on the vaccine connector at www.mn.gov.  The sign up is quick and painless and only takes a few moments.  They will notify you by email, and phone or by text if you elect to.

Everyone has their own opinion on the vaccine, whether it’s a safety issue or governement issue, it’s up to you. I for one will be there as soon as they text me.  I want - no, I need my life to get back to normal.

Congratulations to Megan Cartier and Augie Brown on earning a trip to the state  ski meet.  They are heading up to Giants Ridge in Biwabik to compete today (Wednesday).  We will have their results in next week’s paper.

March is Foodshare month.  The event runs from March 1 to April 11.  Right now, until Monday or Tuesday, if you make a donation to Family Pathways Food Shelf, Waste Management has agreed to match your donations.  They will be matching gifts up to $2500 .  What a great opportunity to help such a wonderful cause in our own backyard.  To make your donation, just go to familypathways.org and click donate.

Ugg,  this Saturday night is the time when we have to turn our clocks ahead.  I just wrote about trying to get daylight savings time removed from the state.  “Oh but we get another hour of daylight” well last time I checked my day still consists of 24 hours and now my sleep schedule has to adjust. Bah...

Remember that we have some amazing restaurants around here with great fish specials on Fridays.  We just had fish last friday from a restaurant in Chisago City and it was amazing.  Going to try Center City this week.
