Merlin led a full life. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and Local 49er. Most of his career, he was a large equipment operator cutting interstate highways through farmlands of the Midwest. He worked with the construction outfits McLean-Astleford, Shafer, and Cross Country. Merlin enjoyed travels with his wife, relatives and friends, caring for his family, gardening and taking a turn around the dance floor.
He will be remembered for his insatiable appetite for news, local history, coffee and peaches. His kind, hospitable spirit will be missed by many who knew him.
