Chisago City will be holding the annual Ojiketa Haunt beginning this weekend and running October 22, 23, 29 and 30. The theme this year is the headless horseman. You will be scared as you maneuver the grounds of Ojiketa Regional Park, throughout the woods around creepy cabins. The cost of the scare is $5 per body, but it goes down to $3 a body for a food or toiletry donation to go towards the local food shelf.
On October 30 at Ojiketa Regional Park younger children are invited to visit Ojiketa for a free event Falloween. Your kids will have a blast dressed in their costumes while they Trick-or-treat at cabins in the park, encounter a kid friendly maze, do arts and crafts, have a kid friendly scary story time, visit a not-so-scary haunted house, hunt for pumpkins, pet llamas and even get some fun Halloween surprises.
The event runs 2:30-4pm at Ojiketa Regional Park. They are asking for a food donation to the local food shelf please.
Speaking of being scared - Franconia Sculpture Park has an opportunity for you on Saturday. They are continuing their Fright Fest film series with the showing of Nosferatu. A silent film legend Nosferatu brings the vampire to the big screen for one of the first and maybe best times. What makes the showing at the sculpture park so special is there will be live music accompanying the film. Admission is $5 with snacks and drinks available for purchase. The film begins promptly at 7pm at the Franconia Commons (the new building on the premises).
Knock-on-wood and we all keep his stupid virus down, the 2022 Chisago Lakes Home, Business and Garden Expo is a go. Yep - we will be able to attend in person and the way the pandemic has affected the way we treat our homes with remodeling and such, this show promises to be one of the very best. Keep in mind the show isn’t until February, the reason I am writing about it is for local businesses. This is your chance to register for the show and hopefully book the bulk of your year within one busy weekend. I urge you to call 651-213-2603 to register or email them at [email protected]. See you at the show.
This Sunday is your last chance to get some awesome food at the Drive In restaurant in Taylors Falls. They are closing their doors for the season even though as I write this it is 74 degrees. Wade Vitalis, and his staff which is made up of mostly local students, do such a great job and the food is terrific.
Lindstrom Fire Department is looking for a fireman or woman to join their department. If you have interest or know of someone who wants to be a firefighter, please see the ad in our classifieds.
