Halloween is so much fun, so many chances to collect goodies

We are so close to Halloween it’s (sorry) scary.  That means ice is on its way from somewhere.  That also means there are plenty of fun events for kids to take part in.  As always, the Lakes Free Church is holding its Trunk-or-Treat event on Halloween from 5-6:30pm.  Also—bring the kids to town in Chisago City, Lindstrom, Center City and Taylors Falls on October 29 for the super-popular  Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet event.   From 4 to 6 pm, participating businesses will be handing out goodies to trick-or-treaters.  See page 6 for the long list of businesses.

Chisago City, as I wrote here last week, is holding the Ojiketa Haunt and the very popular Falloween for kids.  These are great events for people of all ages and the Falloween event is a wonderful young kids’ event at a super-cool park.  Falloween is Saturday and runs from 2:30 to 4pm at Ojiketa Regional Park.

North Branch will host a Halloween drive-thru on Halloween day from 4-6pm. The event will take place at Access Church located at 4359 392nd St, North Branch.

The Almelund Lions will also be holding a Halloween drive-up.  The Lions will provide a drive-up for candy treats on Halloween evening October 31,  starting at 4 pm, 15740 Maple Lane (the Old Fire Hall).

A million thanks to the folks who put on this year’s Kids Outerwear Fair at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom.  Bonnie Houger and her amazing staff worked countless hours sorting winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and boots to be given away for our neighbors who are down on their luck at the moment.  They are a God send to those families who are struggling right now.

Just a reminder - if you think your children may have an interest in ice skating or even ice hockey and they haven’t had much if any time on the ice, there is a really neat event next weekend at the Chisago Lakes Arena.  It is the annual “Come Try Hockey For Free” event.  Boys and girls ages 4-9 are encouraged to come out and experience hockey for the first time and learn very basic skills to get them on their way to a new passion.  The event is November 6 and runs from 10:30am to 11:30am. They ask that you please bring a pair of loose fitting sweat pants or snow pants, a pair of gloves or mittens, a helmet - even a bike helmet is acceptable and a smile.  I have been to the clinic before and kids absolutely love this.

All of the negativity these days is so overwhelming.  Five times an hour it seems I am being bombarded by this side or that side.

So here is something to go against the grain. Thank you!  We love our readers - all of you! We are giddy to be able to put the paper out each week and that is because of you!
