I would invite you to Moberg Park in Chisago City at 6pm to celebrate those who lost their lives and to honor the men and women engaged in the war on terrorism. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. It is moving to say the least and it isn’t a very long event. Thanks for coming in advance.
Remember to block off some time on your calendar for Shafer Days. Their end of the summer celebration runs September 17 & 18, so you have time to plan for it now.
Thanks for all of the comments about my column last week when I referenced putting your phone down. I was reminded by someone whom I share a house with that I do spend a decent amount of time looking at fantasy football on my phone. Guilty as charged. But at least when I am on my phone I am giving to charity. Seeing as I lose in fantasy football every year, my money is going to a good place...
Coming up September 18 also at Moberg Park in Chisago City, there is something really cool happening.
Chisago City is combining with the Chisago Lakes Rotary Club to bring a FREE concert to the park. This fall’s concert features “Church Of Cash,” a Johnny Cash tribute band. Before you roll your eyes over a tribute band, I have seen this band, as recently as a month ago. If you are a Johnny Cash fan or even old time country in general fan, do NOT miss this concert. This band’s singer is a ringer for Johnny Cash. His voice is amazing. Bring your lawn chair and some money, because the Rotary Club is serving ice cold beer. The concert runs from 5-7pm and will also feature a BBQ food truck. Come on out - you’ll be glad you did.
Franconia Sculpture Park is having a 5 Minute Film Fest Saturday beginning at 9pm. The film fest is made up of films from artists in Minnesota and Wisconsin working in video art, film, documentary, animation, or experimental media.
There are 19 artists that have been chosen for the event. Sounds pretty neat if you ask me.
In this Press you will find the Fall Sports Preview. Jeff and Chuck have worked hard to bring you articles about your favorite local sports teams and their outlook for the season. It is a great piece to keep if you are parents of an athlete and it is fun to read if you are a fan of high school sports. Good luck to the Wildcats and the Vikings on your seasons!
