We made our way up to Stacy this weekend.  But, I feel bad, this is two years in a row they have had rain during Stacy Daze.   But, just like last year, the rain subsided just in time to have a grande day parade.  People were having a blast not getting wet and eating candy from the parade to their hearts’ content.  The car show on Friday had a great turnout as it was a spectacular evening and even the fireworks and street dance were rain free.

Thank you so much to the Stacy Daze organizers for another great Stacy Daze.  Your hard work does not go unnoticed!

The Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has a few openings for the annual golf tournament August 18.  If you have a team or are looking to get onto an existing one, please call the chamber at 651-257-1177.  I have golfed the event many times and it is a great time.

This weekend is the annual Almelund Threshing Show.  The show is a step back in time, three day event, that honors all things ruural and farming.  You will see hundreds (yes hundreds) of tractors ranging from tiny to absolutely massive in size.   Wonderful food and non-stop entertainment.  The show begins Friday with a tractor pull at 4 p.m. and live music in the beer garden beginning at 8 p.m.  Saturday there is a kids tractor pull (yes, your kids can participate) at 9 a.m., another tractor pull at noon, with more live music and dancing in the beer garden at 8 p.m.

Sunday there is a polka church service on the grounds with another tractor pull at noon followed by everyone’s favorite tractor parade.  That’s when almost every tractor on display fires up and slowly drives around the premises.  It is my favorite event, there are plenty of places to sit and view the parade, some are even in the shade.

While at the show, you can register to win a beautiful restored tractor.

Come on out, kids absolutely go bonkers over the tractors and old people like myself feel like kids there as well.

Both Chisago City and Lindstrom are in the thick of their Farmer’s Market seasons.  Both have exceptional LOCAL grown and produced goods, and both are filled with some of the nicest people you will ever meet.  Chisago City’s market takes place Friday afternoons from 2-6 p.m. and is held at Moberg Park right in town.

Lindstrom’s Market is held Wednesday evenings from 3-6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon at the St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church parking lot across from the Holiday station.  Come on out and buy some great tasting food and help your neighbors in doing so.

Not sure if you have been to the all new Applewoood Nursery in Chisago City or not, but we just were there and it is beautiful.  Steve has done an amazing job transforming an old corn field into a robust sprawling nursery that is filled with tons of beautiful plants and trees.  They moved off of Highway 8 to across from the driving range on County Road 23 (Green Lake Trail).  Stop in and say hi to Steve and his group of great workers.

There is a great art show opening next week at the Hallberg Center for the Arts in Wyoming.  The seventh annual In. Art Show and Competition runs from August 18 to September 17.  The event is free to the public and everyone is welcome.  There will be over 56 artists who have qualified as finalists to be included in the show this year.

The venue (old church) is perfect for viewing the art, nice and roomy and a very casual atmosphere.
