Ki Chi Saga Days is here.  It usually signifies the end of summer; although I refuse to buy into that.

Today (Thursday), things kick off with city-wide garage sales.  See the back of the paper for locations. There is a ribbon cutting at the new bridge in Ojiketa at 11 a.m.

Friday the garage sales continue, plus the farmers market featuring live music and kids crafts.

Saturday things ramp up with the search for Moberg’s hidden bike horn starting at 10 a.m. with clues posted hourly on the City Hall window.  Grand prize this year is $500.

In Paradise Park, there are inflatables for the kids as well as pony rides.

Also in Paradise Park there is a very popular kids’ fishing tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Get there early - they only are taking 52 registrations.  Kids will get prizes for fish caught as well as drawings. There is face painting and fair hair (free) at Paradise all day.  In Chuckie Lundquist Park the popular skateboarding competitionstarts at 11 a.m.

In Moberg Park, in town,  at noon, the contestants for Little Miss will be crowned after reading their essays.

Fireworks at Paradise Park will begin around 8 p.m. and Frankie’s street dance officially opens at 7 p.m. with Dirt Road Dixie playing.  The dance is free.

Sunday,  Norm the magician takes the stage at Paradise Park at 11 a.m.  The Hillbilly band plays at Moberg Park at 11 a.m. as well, and 2 p.m. is when the Grand Day Parade meanders along Old Towne Road and Railroad Avenue.  Bring a lawn chair and a bag for candy.  Jonah and the Whales band plays at Moberg Park from 2:30-5 p.m. and the celebration wraps up with the yearly tradition of a pie eating contest at 5 p.m. Sunday in Moberg Park.  Plenty to do, take in a little or a lot, either way it’s close and it’s fun.

We get more phone calls about the Dinnerbel/ Meredee’s  project than just about anything.  I usually direct them to the city for any answers.  There is  a council meeting tonight (Thurs) 7 p.m. at Lindstrom City Hall.  If this is something you are passionate about, I encourage you to attend. It’s open to the public.
The best way to let your elected officials know how you feel is to show up. Please keep it civil, yelling accomplishes absolutely nothing.
