In the traffic enforcement saturation the area agencies last week were still coming across multiple violations of the “hands-free” law.  MN state law prohibits holding a device in your hands while operating a motor vehicle... this includes looking at a text, it includes talking to an automated voice mail message, and it includes playing Pokemon-Go.  Keep your hands free while behind the wheel.

August 21 county deputies made an arrest after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle loading a snowmobile and riding lawnmower into an enclosed trailer on Benet Avenue North in Rush City.  Patrol deputy picked up the described vehicle and one suspect was brought in on an active warrant and one was booked on burglary and theft.

August 20 Lakes Area came to assist Wyoming in capturing an ATV passenger who fled on foot when the driver was apprehended, about 4:50 around Fondant Avenue.

August 19 Lakes Area Police ejected a woman who was camping in Lindstrom’s Allemansratt Park without registration, and who had driven a vehicle to the campsite in violation of rules for no motorized vehicles. She is not to enter the park for a year. Three other offenders were also found in the park with vehicles over last week.

August 16 there were many storage units damaged and missing items are still being evaluated, in break-ins at a storage facility on Quandam Lane in Shafer.

A residence in Fish Lake Township was burglarized, several firearms are potentially missing, an inventory was continuing.
