Thao wins title in Fridley, second at Maple Grove for Viking grapplers
The Vikings finished eighth out of 13 teams at the Don Meyers Fridley Invite on Saturday, December 3. Senior Michael Thao won the tournament championship at 138, decisioning Darion Snyder of St. Paul Highland Park 11-9 in a tight championship match. Jack Baker (113) was 3-1 for the tourney and finished third.
St. Francis 66, North Branch 6
The Vikings wrestled a dual meet at St. Francis on Thursday, December 8. They wrestled at seven of the 14 weights, and the only winner was Jack Baker (113), who won by forfeit, accounting for all six Viking points.
Maple Grove Crimson Invite
The Vikings wrestled in the Maple Grove Crimson Invite on Saturday, December 10 and finished ninth out of 13 teams – one spot behind the host team, Maple Grove. Michael Thao (138) was the Vikings’ highest finisher. He was pinned by Landon Unbreit of Rush City Braham at 3:14 and settled for second place. Jack Baker (113) decisioned Walter Sabot of Bismarck Legacy 6-0 in the third-place match to finish third.
