Center City is looking at a construction boom. Relatively speaking that is. The city planning commission  is considering plans for a redevelopment of the “Go Boat Motel” parcels and also for carving three lots from a large single family property near the Government Center.

Both are subjects of public hearings this Monday, Feb. 28.

The motel site at Grand Avenue and Highway 8 is a candidate for three duplexes (six dwellings) and a single family house on the lot furthest from Hwy, 8.  (See graphic.) As a Planned Unit Development or PUD it requires a comp plan amendment, and rezoning.

The other plat in process and which will also be reviewed Monday night is  under the working title of “Borg’s Bluff.”

If the preliminary and final plats are approved this application results in three large lots, with 100 foot of lakefrontage and existing house, garage and boathouse remain.  This applicant went through the process of carving out a public access point on a portion of street the city vacated,  to facilitate recombining and creating these lots.
