“Awesome ice” and “love the new boards!” These were a couple comments from skaters who circled the rink during the ribbon cutting last weekend, Saturday Jan 15, at Wyoming’s Swenson Park. Pictured above are Mayor Lisa Iverson, and Council persons Claire Luger and Brett Ohnstad cutting the ribbon on the city’s first fully handicap accessible public park. Not pictured, seasonal rinks attendant, John, who is in his 13th year on-site. Wyoming was able to leverage a DNR grant to do warming house improvements, and upgrades to park lighting and hardscaping. There are pathways for those with mobility limitations, and in warm weather there’s a new court for pickleball too. Swenson Park is east of County Road 30, off Railroad Blvd. and turn when you see the hockey rink.
