As we approach the Fourth of July, President Rick Olseen notes how many veterans the group gets to take out on lakes on fishing trips or just to be on the water and enjoy the experience.
Olseen also said many nursing homes and assisted living sites are using the pontoons to enhance their residents’ quality of life. He added, “Let’s Go Fishing is grateful for the local sponsors, who allow us to do this at no cost to guests.”
Outings are scheduled at eastcentralmn.lgfws.com.
Let’s Go Fishing provides all needed items; poles, reels, live bait, life jackets, a captain and first mate, refreshments and accessible boats. If you are fishing bring your license (or if you are an assisted living guest, or 90 years of age or better, you fish at no cost in MN)
There are various levels where you can support this outdoor experience that took its first trip out on the water in 2004. The annual sponsorship of $250 will cover expenses for a day. There is a $500 to $999 “Northern” level sponsorship and the Walleye sponsorhsip is $1,000. Contact Let’s Go Fishing at 651-402-5960.
Or, set your schedule to be able to attend the May annual breakfast and silent auction.
Mounted metal plaques are on the inside of the pontoons that the organization uses and these can be memorialized in honor of a special person for $250.
