A new play apparatus is approved for installation in Wyoming’s Swenson Park. The city council voted unanimously to order the “ropes adventure” piece from Minnesota Wisconsin Playground and GameTime, for $31,988 additionally with a quote of $12,000 for installation.

The council heard the structure could go in sometime this year with an order placed by July 4, otherwise it will wait until 2023.  The park needed something for older kids, ages 5 to 12, according to what council has gotten in citizen feedback.
The equipment consists of heavy duty poly-wrapped steel cords and has a 20-year lifespan, staff said.

This is being funded through park dedication fees paid by developers and does not come out of property tax.  There’s about $100,000 in the park fee account currently.

In land use business: a phase of the Summerfields project at Kettle River and 258th, west of I-35 is moving forward. The council approved a final plat for townhouses as part of phase three.  According to Fred Weck, city building official, the plat includes a turnaround at the end of the main secondary road for later, when the street (Emerson Court) is extended and land south of this is built on.

Weck also reports the Comfort Lake Overlook development, at 260th,  is “paused” as the applicant has pulled  preliminary paperwork.

And, kudos to the Wyoming Police Department which has a reservist, Kayte Barton, who designed the T- shirt worn by participants in the Torch Run that law enforcement officers, administrators and staff were part of in Minnesota, June 24.  The local route came through Chisago County and is also run in states all over the U.S. in support of Special Olympics.
