KOD, Wannigan Days oh my....

KOD, Wannigan Days oh my....

My goodness was Karl Oskar Days a success this year!  I seriously can’t remember it being this crowded in at least 15 years.  There were people absolutely everywhere.  Saturday I went to post the clues for the hidden snuff box and I had to park in Center City. Ok, I may have embellished that but I did park a half mile away.  The sidewalks were packed, the parks were packed, everyone was having a great time.  What a testament to the Karl Oskar Committee and Pauline Hinsch and her many, many volunteers who worked so hard this year and it showed.

Speaking of the snuff box, thanks to everyone who searched this year. We had many compliments about the clues and how difficult it was this year.  In the end Jacob, Nicole and Stella Nelson were the lucky finders of the snuff box.  It was hidden under the new foot bridge at Allemansratt Park.  They found it Saturday around 1 p.m.

The parade on Saturday evening was a zoo.  Not in a bad way, just really packed with people excited to see a parade, finally.

It really seemed like all our time spent at home during the pandemic really got to all of us, and this was our chance to get out and enjoy life, neighbors, and our community.  Thanks everyone for coming out.

Speaking of festivals, this weekend the summer festival parade keeps rolling.  Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls invite you, your friends and family to the 64th annual Wannigan Days celebration.  The event spans across the river and both cities will celebrate giving you ample places to visit and partake in the fun.

Friday there is a car show at TF city hall, a Johnny Cash tribute band at the overlook, and the Whitesidewalls top off the night at the big stage in TF.  Saturday there is a craft fair in SCF a kids fun zone in TF, a dunk tank at Romayne’s,  a kiddie parade that starts in TF at 5 p.m. and the grand day parade which starts at 6 p.m. in SCF and works it’s way across to Taylors Falls. Please see page 10 for a huge list of all the happenings on both sides of the river.  See you out there!

Since we are on the subject of summer events, mark your calendars for the Chisago County Fair. The fair runs July 21-24 in Rush City. There is a motocross on July 21, and an ambassador program.  Friday night features the popular demolition derby and a street dance.  Saturday features a magic show, and  demolition derby.  Sunday there is a talent show, a kids tractor pull and a 4-H pet show.  As always, the most popular event during the fair (next to seeing farm animals up close) is the county fair parade.  The Saturday parade works its way through downtown at 3 p.m. before ending at the fairgrounds.

If you are sick of me stating this I apologize, but this is the official, official cut off paper for those of you who have not renewed your subscription.  Next week you will not be receiving a paper in your mailbox.  Simply send a check for $49 to Chisago County Press, PO Box 748, Lindstrom, MN 55045.
