The fair will kick off with the competitions among 4H clubs and their animal and livestock entries, plus rides, food, carnival games, music and motocross at 7 p.m. tonight, July 21.
All the good stuff will be back Friday, July 22 as well, but with a demolition derby taking the arena at 7 p.m.
Saturday features another demo derby at 7 p.m. with Time Bandits and Good For Gary on the musical stage throughout the day. There will also be a magic show for kids at 12:45 p.m.
One of the highlights on Saturday will be the County Fair parade. For the 150th celebration, the parade will be bigger than ever.
The grand marshals will be all Chisago County veterans. Organizer Loren Jennings said each post will be represented and they have been organizing their representation to lead the parade honorably.
The parade will also feature the Patriot Parachute Team, which is a professional skydive demonstration team owned and operated by former Navy SEALs.
“Witness a once in a lifetime performance filled with heart-pounding stunts. The Patriot Parachute Team takes "extreme" to new levels!” the group says. “We perform in only the most high profile, and high pressure environments. Watch with amazement as we fly our parachutes inverted or straight towards the ground at over 100 miles per hour.”
The parachute dive team will begin their descent around the parade start at 3 p.m. and will land at the County Fairgrounds early in the parade. The team will also stick around for high fives and photos after they land, so make sure to get there early!
The parade starts at the ball fields near Jacobsen Elementary north of town.
The fair continues into Sunday with the 4-H pet show, the kids pedal tractor pull and the amateur talent contest at 1 p.m. the winners will get to perform at the state fair, and anyone can sign up to showcase their talent!
