Sheriff and police personnel handle dozens of domestic, private property and general service calls in addition to what you read here.

Motorcyclist fatality
July 25 a North Branch man on his 2006 Harley Davidson Cruiser reportedly lost control and crashed into a ditch, losing his life on I-35 in Forest Lake.  The call came in about 5:30 p.m.  State Patrol identifies the victim as Sky Patrick O’Neil, 45.  He was northbound on the freeway and had just passed Hwy. 97.

July 24 a medical call sent law enforcement to assist at Shoquist Lane boat access, Chisago City about 6:30 p.m.  Subject sustained a leg injury from jumping off a pontoon into shallow water. Subject was transported.
Squatters behind Schoony’s in Taylors Falls in the wooded area were sent on their way by a patrol deputy.  
A car swerved to avoid a deer and went off the road into a ditch at Forest Boulevard (the 3300 block, and nearly rolled. Two people were transported about 2:48 a.m.

I-35 fatality
MN State Patrol reported a Yaris automobile and Acura were in a crash, into the median on I-35 near Hwy. 8, in the southbound lane about 4:22 p.m.  It is believed the Yaris switched lanes from left to right and then switched back and hit the Acura, both rolled into the median. The driver of the Yaris, 60 year old Alexis Covey, of Forest Lake, died of injuries at Regions.  The Acura driver is a 45 year old female from Hugo and is under medical care.
July 23
Someone placing a fence post hit a gas line at an address on Lake Lane, Chisago City.  Call sent fire and police out about 4:30 p.m.
A number of dispatches for incidents at fairgrounds or nearby in Rush City. The sheriff patrol dealt with a male intoxicated and contacted parents to retrive him about 1:27 a.m.  A man was arrested after fleeing when authorities tried to deal with his disorderly conduct at the county fairgrounds, about midnight.  A driver went through a ditch at the fair parking lot, and was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of DUI about 10:39 p.m.  An alleged assault at the Kwik Trip near the fairgrounds resulted in an arrest about 7:20 p.m.

Friday night into Saturday a group of males observed near horse ring area on fairgrounds about 1:15 a.m. Routine patrol broke up the group, one male had a bloody face. No charges filed.

July 22 damage to window of Focus near Frandsen Avenue and Fifth, reported about 10:22 p.m. Suspect observed by bystander but was not detained.
Property damage incident about 6:45 p.m., in Stacy at 314th Street. Male cited and released.

July 21 (Thursday) At approximately 10 p.m. sheriff patrol noted 15 individuals on 4th Street Rush City sidewalk area,  with three engaged in what looked like a fight. A knife was confiscated and conduct was dispersed. No arrest details.

Fire in a field (solar array) on 375th and Pottery Trail reported at 9 a.m. Local firefighters handled and energy company was summoned.

July 20 theft of Milwaukee brand power tools from trailer parked on First Street, Taylors Falls.
