The Helen Keller Lions Honor went to the late Saneda Deming, which her two boys Chad and Matt were only too glad to accept on her behalf, see photo. Presenting is Gloria Michels.
Special Appreciation certificates went to Al Patton and Teresa Elmstrand. Elmstrand is a second generation member of North Branch Lions and she was thrilled to be able to recognize the contributions made by her mother, Roberta (Bobbie) in presenting her with the Don Hartzell Outstanding Community Service Award.
Bobbie Elmstrand is a charter Lioness member. She also was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary and could be counted on to work Midsummer Days and a host of other events. She was president of the Legion Auxiliary for eight years. She also coordinated and organized Christmas and veterans Day parties at Ecumen. She and husband Don are 50-year plus North Branch residents.
Her daughter, Lions member Teresa, said the whole family got recruited (or volunteered) to participate in many of the town events the Legion supported.
Bruce Walker, former North Branch High School instructor for 41 years, received the Community Service Award and his accomplishments were many: he made flag boxes for holding the veteran family funeral flags, was on the Trinity Church Council, coached for local and school district programs, established a photography club and the ski club through North Branch Area High School and started drivers ed in 1964.
