Mothers Day is not to be taken lightly

Mothers Day is not to be taken lightly
Mothers Day is not to be taken lightly

This Sunday is Mothers Day.  One day a year we honor those beautiful women who raised us and made us the women and men we are today.  One day.  Something wrong with that reasoning.  Mothers Day should be celebrated multiple times a year if not quarterly.  Okay maybe that’s a little aggressive, but after living through what I put my mom through and looking back now at her never ending love and support when I most certainly didn’t deserve it, she should have a statue dedicated to her.

Please take the time to thank your mother and tell her thanks.  Trust me when I say, for them to hear thank you and I love you means more than a present.

This Saturday there are a couple of events that I think may interest you.  If you are anything like me, the thought of getting rid of junk around the house that has collected over the last year gets me excited.  That’s why I will be making multiple trips to the recycling event held at the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church Saturday.  AAA Recycling’s Mark Nelson and his hard working group will be in the lower lot accepting most items you want to get rid of.  Some are free such as batteries, computers, cell phones and laptops, and others have just a small recycling fee.  The event runs all day from 8am to 2pm. If you see a decent line, don’t worry, they get you in and out of there in no time.

The second event Saturday is one of my favorite. Taylors Falls Fired Department is hosting their annual Smelt Fry.  From 4 to 7pm you can enjoy fresh smelt, beans, coleslaw, rolls, a pickle and a beverage.  This is their 77th annual smelt fry, so you know it has to be amazing.  The fry is held at the Taylors Falls Fire Hall located at the top of the hill at 637 First Street. See you there!

Every day it seems like I see people on Facebook asking about jobs for their kids.  Next week at Wild Mountain, they will be hosting a Job Fair.  They have a ton of openings for anyone 14 years or older. The event is held at the base lodge and your can meet with hiring managers that day and can accept a job if offered that same day as well.  Did I mention that if hired, you get a free season pass?

I believe there is still time to register your house for the Chisago City Annual city wide Garage Sale.  Call the city and get your sale on the registry and watch the customers roll into your sale.  The garage sales take place next weekend, the 12th to the 15th and maps will be available to the public before the sales up at city hall.

The good folks at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming are having a Mothers Day Spring Plant Sale.  They will have beautiful hanging baskets and other beautiful flowers and plants.  The sale runs from 9am to 1pm and the church is located at 5879 Wyoming Trail, in Wyoming.  The proceeds will help fund the sunday school program.
