Chisago Lakes 3, Monticello 2
Although most lacrosse games are pretty high-scoring affairs, the Chisago Lakes girls lax team had a defensive battle with the Monticello Magic in late-April,

The Wildcats, on the back of a Herculean effort from freshman goalie Laura Carlson, beat the Magic for the second time on the year, by a score of 3-2.

Carlson made 19 saves on 21 Monticello shots, which is a ridiculous save percentage for a lacrosse goalie, and her performance even earned her the Minnesota Lacrosse Hub Top Performer for the week.

Although the Chisago Lakes’ offense wasn’t hitting on all cylinders during the game, they did just enough to squeeze out the win in front of Carlson.

Sara Smith, Skylar Wells and Kaianna Senne all scored goals for the Wildcats, and that was enough to hold on to the win for CL.

Chisago Lakes, 13, Brainerd 4
After being mostly stifled by the Monticello defense, the Wildcat offense bursted in their three games in three day stretch, scoring a combined 44 goals over the contests.

The explosion started on Wednesday, May 4 against Brainerd. Senne had three goals, Wells, Ally Nelson and Smith each had two goals and Kamryn Peterson, Aly Vogelsang and Syd Kerkow all scored as the Wildcats ran away from the Warriors quickly.

Carlson was sharp again in net for Chisago Lakes, making 10 saves on 14 shots

Chisago Lakes 17, St. Cloud 1
The offense kept rolling when they traveled to St. Cloud to take on the Tigers on Thursday, May 5.

They celebrated Cinco De Mayo in style, treating the Tigers like stuffed pinatas. Wells potted five goals for the ‘Cats to go along with three assists. Smith and Senne each had four goals and an assist, and Peterson and Adriana Her scored two goals apiece.

Carlson didn’t have to make too many saves in this one, as the Wildcats controlled the action throughout. She faced only five shots and made four saves.

Chisago Lakes 14, Spring Lake Park 4
Luckily the girls throwing shoulders didn’t get tired as they rang up their third straight blowout on Friday, May 6.

Smith highlighted the CL offensive attack with four goals and three assists. Nelson had a hat trick, and Her and Wells each scored a pair of goals. Peterson, Senne and Vogelsang each scored as well.

Carlson had seven saves on 11 shots to keep the Panthers at bay.

Chisago Lakes is currently 5-1 on the year and will take on Becker on Thursday, May 12 after a much needed week off. They’ll then host Sartell on Monday, May 16 as they pass the midway point of their season.
