Love storms - until they wreck your house

Love storms - until they wreck your house

Wow - that’s all I can say.  The storm that came through Monday was a real eye-opener.  First, the radar looked bad, then it looked like it was all pushing more northerly and...wham.  Our house is in Center City and from the looks of it, Center City took the brunt of the storm.  I’m not going to pretend to be a meteorologist (although some say I have the hair for it) but the way our two very large trees that are now uprooted are lying it sure looks like wind rotation.  We had one tree fall across the road and the other tree fell directly onto our house.  The wind was then so strong it blew the tree down along the roof to the other side.  Tornado? Who knows - probably not.  Incredibly frustrating? Absolutely.  Sorry about the chain saw noise you will be hearing all summer long.

Local veterans wanted you to know that there will not be a formal ceremony at the All-Veterans Memorial in Lindstrom this year.  They have decided to make the difficult decision based on low attendances in recent years.  They are still accepting orders for memorial bricks and the forms are located at the memorial in the metal box.

This weekend, Chisago City will host the annual spring community-wide garage sale.  All over the town, you will find garage sale after garage sale with some great treasures to be had.  We have a listing of some of the featured sales on page 19 of this paper.  Good hunting!

If you remember,  awhile back we ran a story of a local woman Kristi Lundeen.  Kristi was fighting cancer and decided to not sit idle and got out, and raised money for the Race for a Cure.  The “race’ was not a huge group event but individuals walked on their own last year with supporters.  Well, in case you were wondering about Kristi she is back at it.  In fact she has never stopped her quest.  She raised over $4,000 for the Race and this year she had the honor of being a keynote speaker.

She is still undergoing infusions for cancer until July of this year.  Her team recently hiked in Taylors Falls as well as the cancer walk at US Bank in Minneapolis.  She lives in Shafer and is still working as a physical therapy assistant at Parmly on the Lake.

Kristi is very thankful for all of the community support she has had, and continues to receive.  Great job Kristi and keep fighting!
