This weekend there are a few programs locally where you can go and honor these men and women. We have a complete list of times and locations of services the American Legion and the VFW hold. I hope you can come out and honor some of the greatest people ever.
Remember also on Monday, there is a Memorial Day Paddle taking place. This year they will start from Ki Chi Saga Park off Glader Blvd. in Lindstrom at 9am. The group will meander their way to North Center and have lunch in Center City before heading back around 1pm. Everyone is invited.
This coming week, most of you will receive our 2022/23 Chisago Lakes Community Guide. We have been putting the guide out since 2005 and have seen it grow from a black and white 42 page magazine to this year’s 108 full color piece. We have revamped the content in the guide to make it more user friendly, that both residents and visitors will find very handy. We have busted our tails on the guide this year and Jeff Norton, our sales rep has done a phenomenal job.
Thanks to the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber for their part in making the new-guide so pleasing. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. If you didn’t get one, you can always stop by the Press and pick up a copy.
Monday, June 6 marks the return of the very popular Chisago Lakes Community Meal. The dinner is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a healthy meal and a healthy dose of conversation. The meal will be every Monday (except for July 4) from 4 - 6 pm at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at 28005 Old Towne Road in Chisago City.
The community meal began in 2011. It is eaten by, served by, funded by, hosted by, and run by the people of the Chisago Lakes area. The meal has served a total of well over 10,000 meals served over the years.
Everyone is always welcome. Call 651-775-3367 to volunteer.
The Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation is giving a $10,000 grant for a project that: enhances quality of life, leaves a lasting impact, builds community pride, strengthens community connections, enriches the lives of residents, or fills an unmet need. The project will be judged on meeting one or more of those criteria.
Nonprofits, cities, and schools can apply. If an individual or group doesn’t have 501C3 status a sponsor can be found. The Foundation serves the Chisago Lakes ISD 2144 area.
Applications open in June and are due September 2, 2022. The grant will be awarded in October. The recipient will have one year to complete their big idea.
