Tomorrow (Friday) everyone is invited to Taylors Falls for the annual Taylors Falls Lighting Festival.  The entire downtown gets lighted beautifully with Christmas lights which then is followed up with a lighted Christmas parade.  The lighting event takes place at 6pm and I would get there early.  There are plenty of things to do prior to the parade, like Mrs. Claus at the library from 5-6pm, a tour of the Folsom House decorated for Christmas, chili at St. Joseph’s Church and Booya at Romayne’s.  After the parade, Santa will be at Schoony’s and there will be a live nativity in the lower level of the depot/community center.

Saturday begins with a pancake breakfast, local maple syrup, wreath making, and  craft fair at the community center.  There is a medallion hunt that begins at 10am with clues being posted on the city sign.  The day ends with family bingo at the community center at 6:30pm.

Sunday the fun continues with Irish dancers at the community center, the royal Lady’s Tea party will take place at First Baptist Church at 2pm. At 3pm, at the Methodist Church there is winter concert by the St. Croix Valley Orchestra.

Plenty to do - we will see you there!

This past weekend, many of you received your 2022 Gift Guide in the mail.  We inserted them into the Search. If you did not get a gift guide, we have plenty here at the Press.  Inside the guide you will find great holiday ideas for parties, decorating and such.  You will also find great advertising from local businesses who want to make your life easier this Christmas season.

On page 14 in the gift guide, you will find the annual coloring contest.  Have your young ones color the page and either drop it off here at the Press or mail it in to PO Box 748, Lindstrom MN 55045.  Prizes will be awarded for various age groups.  If you didn’t get the gift guide and your kids want to enter, by all means stop by here and pick one up or we have made it even easier, on page 14 of this Press is the exact same page as the gift guide.  Simply have them color the page and drop off or mail it in the address mentioned.  Good luck!

I would like to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving.  I truly hope you get to spend it with family and loved ones this year.  We have had a rough couple of years with the pandemic, so celebrating together will be fantastic.  I for one can’t wait.

Shout out to one of our faithful readers.  Les Johnson is a local and a Veteran and has been reading for decades.  Thank you Les!

Just today (Monday is when I write this), we saw a person out walking around Pancake Island on South Center Lake.   C’mon, give it more than a day to freeze.
