Northwoods Humane Society held its popular fundraiser Saturday at Lent Township Hall, called Walk for Animals. Northwoods is on Hwy. 8, just outside of Forest Lake in Chisago County. The organization took in a total of 1,388 animals last year and adopted out 1,258. The Walk provides a time for socializing and viewing the displays. Or you can get pet nails trimmed or a micro-chip embedded for a donation. The Science Center brought an educational exhibit including a live snake. A dog agility course is set up on the adjacent ballfield and there’s a station for making art and a bake sale... but the silent auction takes up most of the inside of the building with dozens of items for people to bid on. Pet parents could buy costumes for animals who like to play dress-up. Walk participants get pledges or individually donate...to do the walk, that starts at the town hall, circles on back roads and ends up back at the building. The sun came out just in time for hitting the starting line.
