The snow then threw a monkey wrench into Chisago City’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. The organizers had to cancel due to excessive ice and looking out for the well-being of attendees. I totally get why they cancelled it - I would have too. Good news! They have rescheduled the hunt for this Saturday (April 8) at the same spot (Paradise Park in Chisago City) at the same time 2pm. So if you are still in town and not visiting relatives, by all means grab the kids and come out for an awesome Easter Egg Hunt.
So some of you (not many) will be getting a blue card in the mail this week. As it turns out, we had a billing snafu that allowed a few of you to get the Press for free for an extended period. All you have to do is send a payment into us here at the Press or call us at 651-257-5115 or go online and subscribe. We will get you up and running without missing a beat. Thanks; and thanks for reading.
Forewarning: religious tones ahead...This weekend is what I think is the biggest religious day of the year. The Easter weekend— which begins with Good Friday.
Without getting into a history lesson, that’s the day Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. Sunday (Easter Sunday) is the day Christians rejoice in. It’s the day Jesus kept his promise and rose from the dead. It is what we believers hand our proverbial hats on, and our faith. If you are not a believer, I am sorry. There has to be a reason that virtually everything is closed on Easter Sunday. There is - his name is Jesus. He is real. No? Give him a try and see.
In this paper we have a bunch of ads from local churches inviting everyone of you to Easter services. You do NOT have to be a member of the church to partake and enjoy one of the most moving services of all year. I encourage you to come out to any of our awesome local churches and enjoy the wonder that is Easter.
Just a friendly reminder that the Chisago Lakes Community Meals are still taking place at Zion Lutheran Church, Old Towne Road, in Chisago City on Mondays. The meals begin at 4pm and run until 6pm. The meals are free to anyone and donations are welcomed. Any questions or for more info, please call 651-775-3367.
